Q&A: Mi9 chief executive Mark Britt

AdNews Challenge 16 Oct 2012

Mark Britt
Chief Executive
Mi9

1. How do you keep fit?

At the very least I get to the gym twice a week, where I’m taken through my paces by my personal trainer, Maren.

2. How does your office encourage fitness?

The Mi9 crew are a pretty fit bunch as it is but we’re also represented in a number of corporate sports comps including touch football, OzTag, soccer and futsal. We always look to enter a team in corporate triathlon events and it’s pretty common to see sweaty people in the lift at lunch time – group jogs, walks, swims. We also offer a monthly rebate on gym memberships to all staff.

3. Which leg of the AdNews Challenge will you be doing?

I’m down for leg three, the 6.4 kilometre bike ride. I’ve been making an effort to get up before the kids on Sundays and get some training under my belt. But on the day I'll really actually just be relying on the old adage 'it's like riding a bike' to get me over the finish line in a reasonable time.

4. What's your best training tip?

Be smart and have patience – set long and short-term goals.

5. Are you a competitive person?

Yes, I get very annoyed when my nine-year-old son beats me at ping pong.

6. Who's the fittest person in the industry?

Though not many know it, Kerry McCabe is a boxer and supremely fit.

7. Which team are you sure to beat?

Has Yahoo!7 entered a team?

Registrations are now open for The AdNews Challenge, the new corporate fitness and Charity event for the advertising, marketing and media industries. The event will take place on Sunday 18 November at Clifton Gardens Reserve, Sydney.
